About Duke and Duchess Danes

A breeder dedicated to the future of the Great Dane

Duke and Duchess Danes began with the dream of welcoming a Great Dane to our home. During our search we came across a double merle puppy in need of a home.  We knew this puppy would likely have many health issues common with double merles, however, we instantly fell in love with this special boy and couldn't say no. Duke, quickly became a beloved member of our family and was our inspiration to become involved in rescue work. After years of working with rescue we found an appreciation for Preservation Breeders who dedicate themselves to breeding a healthier Great Dane with great temperaments. We joined our local Great Dane Club, began mentoring, found the perfect puppy from long lines of healthy Champion Great Danes, began showing our girl, and began our breeding program. This educational period was a six year long journey before actually breeding. Duke was neutered at the appropriate time as he was never to be bred. He is our namesake, and our reason for ensuring that the Great Danes we bring into this world are healthy, have excellent temperaments, and are conformationaly sound.
